Does the township provide housing?No, the township does not provide housing. You, the applicant, are responsible for finding housing. The township does maintain a partial list of rental properties and will be happy to send one to you. Back to Top
Can DeKalb Township help me move from DeKalb Township to another Township?No. DeKalb Township General Assistance funds must be used for DeKalb Township residents only. They must reside in DeKalb Township when making the application and intend to reside in DeKalb Township. Back to Top
I have an eviction notice; will the Township help pay my rent?The Township will not pay towards rent on an apartment that you are being evicted from. The amount the Township pays will not stop the eviction process. The Township will pay towards a security deposit on a new apartment if you are eligible. Back to Top
Does the Township provide gas money?The Township does not provide gas money, however they can help with a one-way bus ticket to a destination where you will be staying permanently. Back to Top
Does the Township help with car repairs?The Township does not help with car repairs unless the car is required for your job, ex. salesman. Back to Top
Does the Township help with car insurance?Again, only if the car is required for the job. Back to Top
Does the Township help with medical?The Township has a medical card available if you are eligible for General Assistance. The medical card is limited in what it can help with. All medical services must be pre-approved by the Township. Back to Top
Will the Township pay for medications?The Township can help with some medications if eligible for the General Assistance medical card. In order to receive pharmacy assistance through the Emergency Assistance program, the medication must be for a life-threatening illness. The Township has 30 days to process for both programs.
